Spurs and news

Finished spurs.

If nothing else, they are different.

News;
peta losing makes me very happy. I found this on the Drudge Report.

Not that this will slow them down, these people never quit. They will find another court, and some other hard working people or organization to attack. I would like to know what it cost  the California Milk Board to defend themselves against this absurdity. I would find some way to get it back.

Close to home

This is a few miles west of my house. It is a pretty neat place to take visitors, nobody believes there used to be a college stuck out here.

Sorry about the sideways picture, and not being able to straighten it up.

In the news;
 I think there will be wars fought over water in the future.

Protect your water rights, the government wants control over it. It is really the only tool they have to control some one like me.

On the bench

A customer asked if I could make a spur band that looked twisted. I told him I'd try.

I took some 3/8 round rod, heated it to red hot, then twisted it. I beat it out flat and started finishing. I sent him some pictures to make sure I was on the right track, and he was impressed enough to order another set.

Ponies and knives

My grandson's first horse!

Pig stickers. These have a 10" cutting edge. A full flat grind in A2 steel

Another prize for the ranch rodeo next week. Mesquite handle, stainless bolster, 1095/15n20 damascus. Dwayne with Armoralleather did his usual fantastic job on the sheath.

Roping practice

On the cheap.

You can get lots of practice in a short time like this, and you don't have to fool with the livestock.

The mule, my horse for the morning.

Ole sorrel has done his job.

What it is supposed to look like after every run.

Picture taking from this position proved to be quite trying. A lot went into the trash bin, but I guess that is the way it goes.

Ranch rodeo buckles

The best part about these buckles is the look on the kids that win them's faces when they are presented with them. These will be given at the September 8 ranch rodeo in Cross Plains, Texas.

Buckle backs. Nobody thinks about them but a maker, or someone that gets one that doesn't fit. Here are the way I do mine, it will fit any thing from an 1 1/2 belt and narrower, hinged to fit any thickness of belt.
