The flood of aught 13
We've been in a severe drought for around 4 years now, and then, all of a sudden, 12 inches. Maybe our weather pattern will change for a while.

Preg checking heifers
We put bulls out on heifers for 60 days, then preg check as soon as possible and sell the open cattle. 60 days may seem like a short time, but it has been my experience that if they don't breed in that time frame as heifers, they will be slow breeders the rest of their life. We were also out of grass and water until last week, and needed them off the payroll. 12 inches of rain the next day!!! It saved us from total ruin.

Rasp spurs
I haven't built any of these in a long time, then get an order for two sets. They are on there way to some ropers in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. I hope a lot of money is won using them.
These spurs sell for around 275.00$ as they sit. Thanks to Rick Coates, farrier extraordinaire, for his contribution to these spurs.

Pictures last thursday
We threw our last load of cattle in with Seth and Chase's cattle, and ended up shipping 7 loads. Days like this are a lot of fun. Lots of good cowboys, good horses, and everybody gets along.
I,ve gotten back in the shop for a couple of hours in the mornings since these pictures were taken. Maybe I'll have something to show off next week. Happy fourth, Kyle is cooking a pig in the ground, hope I don't have food poisoning Friday.
