Who needs New England?

When you have the Spring Gap mountains!

I got to ride around and take pictures with my mother yesterday. Fall color, and we didn't even have to leave Callahan County.

Another set out the door

It's been busy around here lately. Between cattle and the shop, I haven't had time to look up. The hogs dealt us a lot of misery in the past two weeks, evidently South Dakota cattle have never seen wild hogs, and think they are better off three or four fences away from them. Cold and miserable doesn't start to describe the weather when they decide to go. Thank god for broke horses. We got them revac ed and moved to some bigger pastures, so maybe things will settle down on that end.

I finished these this afternoon. Hand forged, one piece spurs, with fine silver inlay. These will be pushing cattle around at the Coleman sale barn after Christmas.

Silver on top of the shank, when folks look down at the spurs, they will see it.

Turned out and riding through them

We  have our calves turned out in the big lot now, and it is somebody's job to go ride through them every day and check for sick ones. I, of course, was watching the weather and took my turn through Sunday, while my children runtoff for a weekend of fun and frivolities.

Jessica picked up a colt from a trainer who put 30 rides on it, and of all mornings, decided she would see how she rode. The wind speed and temperature where the same this morning. 34. I showed up just to watch the wreck. Much to my chagrin, and desperately needing something to talk about in the coffee shop, the colt never made a bobble. She rode around like an old horse all morning. I think she has a good one.

I wished I was this brave again.

Kid spurs

Inlay ed kid spurs at that! I get a set or two of these a year, and always around Christmas.

These are hand forged, one piece spurs, that are made the same way I would make a full size set. They are smaller, but just as much work.

Knives and a link

First, a link, http://bundyranch.blogspot.com/2014/11/bundy-family-at-sky-harbor-airport-phx.html  Things like this are the reason I will never, ever, spend my hard earned money in vegas. I refuse to support people stupid enough to send harry reid to the senate term after term.

I received these knives back from Dwayne at Armoralleather, a great job as usual. Thanks for the order Kate.
